The Society of the Sacred Heart in Ireland
The Society of the Sacred Heart (Central Europe and the Islands Province) -‘the Province’- at Mount Anville, Goatstown, Dublin is to embark on the next ‘life-cycle’ stage of their 180- year creative journey in Ireland.
After years dedicated to the education and development of young girls in Ireland, the Province initiated an innovative ‘age-friendly’ housing project on part (6.57 acres – 2.66 hectares) of their lands in the Goatstown area.
The overall lands at Mount Anville Estate in the Province’s ownership comprises approx. 8.23 hectares or 20.31 acres, which includes a significant road reservation. The Old Farmhouse, Upper and Lower Walled Gardens and adjacent lands form approx. 32.34% of the Province’s lands on the Mount Anville Estate.
The housing project will have no negative impact on the educational and sports facilities associated with the Mount Anville Schools. The schools, under the auspices of the Mount Anville Sacred Heart Educational Trust, will continue to use and occupy their current buildings and facilities, including all sports facilities.
The Province’s preferred partner for Part V units is Sophia Housing Association, an Approved Housing Body.
The overall site is in three adjacent parcels, the ‘Old Farmhouse’ and lands, the ‘’Upper and Lower Walled Garden’, and adjacent lands. An existing pathway will need to be extended to allow for use by members and staff of the Province, by pupils of Mount Anville Schools, in common with, other owners/occupiers of the new scheme and the neighbouring Sophie Barat Residence (sheltered housing).
The Province is keen to be transparent with key stakeholders and has engaged with the wider Goatstown community and immediate neighbours as part of the process on securing a planning permission. It will continue to consult with various stakeholders during the process of securing a suitable purchaser.
